Daenarys
A single-stage-to-orbit system leveraging massive scale to compensate for the normal deficiencies of SSTO systems, the Daenerys is shaped like a reentry pod because it is one. Ideally, it would use its huge reentry flaps and Raptor landing engines to help guide itself to a precise landing on a custom platform, as a splashdown could damage the engines. However, the flaps used to shield the engine during reentry
could be water-tight. Maybe.
While the full Daenerys uses thrust chambers from the largest hydrogen-oxygen engine designed – the M-1 engine – there are two smaller variants that use J-2 and RL-10 chambers. However, while more manageable, they do not benefit as much from scale.
